Babbles - January 29 - April 26

Well the banquets for the 2008 show season are in the past and now it is time to start thinking about 2009!! We are working hard at the barn to try to decide who is going where and organizing horses, trailer space and how we can fit it all in! I think if we had 10 trailers and the horses to fill them, we would still fall short! We are very proud of all of the accomplishments in 2008, both in and out of the show ring! I am really looking forward to showing more myself, as is Ms Annette! Little Linda and Lyssie will both be showing a seperate horse in the pleasure events and the speed events.  I just realized today that Christy would be moving up into the adult classes - that is scary - she can't be that old!!!  We don't know yet who else will be going with us to the different shows - we have to really work on trailer slots.  I wish we had enough room to take everyone who wants to go! So hang on, it will be another wild ride this show season!!

Also thinking ahead means planning for summer camp. We will be doing a few things differently. I will taking a group of my French students to France and will not be here the 1st week of June, so we will be doing a week of 1/2 day camp for riders ages 4 - 8. This week will really be geared toward that age range and offer a less strenuous day for our youngters! Then we will have 3 weeks of regular horse camp. And of course the week of July 4th we will be having advanced camp Mon - Thurs.  Unless there is a huge demand, we will not be offering any other weeks of camp in July. If the need arises, then we will take a look! We will attending hte annual summer camp fair Feb 7th, so let me know if you now what week you would like to attend!!

I hope everyone has a great week - stay warm!!

LeeAnn, Carrie and I went to Bear's Saturday and rode for about 2 hours. Needless to say we could hardly walk yesterday. (for whatever reason, the pain skips a day). Don't let anyone tell you that it is easy to ride a pleasure horse. I don't know who came up with the word "pleasure" becuase it isn't always!!

Other than the pain we had a blast. Remi and Koda are different horses. And LeeAnn and I are becoming different riders. It is not as easy as it looks. It is as much trust as it is ability and talent. Maybe even more so. I am so used to "GO" when I put my leg on a horse, that it is really an eye opener when Koda collects and slows now with leg in the right place. And all this with very droopy reins!! I can't wait till show season.

Koda is destined for the Buckskin World Show in Memphis in August. Every who can needs to come and cheer him on. Bear is showing him in the open events and we will see about the AMA.

I am off to Marne's with a load of horses. BURR!!!!!!!!!

Everyone remember the meeting Friday night at 6:30 at the barn for anyone who wants to show this year. We will talking trailer space, expectations and what you will need. Hoep to see a big crowd there!!!

Just a small correction, the meeting will be at the house, not the barn, I need a chair to sit in and a warmer place to be!!! See everyone tonight!

By the way, just thought I would let everyone know that we have decided to sell Tinkerbelle, and Buster, possibly one other. All are good horses, it is a question of non use and up=grading or grading toward a more specific horse!!! Let me know if anyone is interested. Miss LeeAnn also has plenty of info, in fact more than me!

What a great turnout for the meeting! We are going to have a great time showing this summer!! I am excited!!We will have some new folks showing this year, as well as some "old-timers". It is hard to believe that this is the 4th season for some of our students to show - wow! That 1st year we got started kinda late, but we got our toes wet! And it has gotten better and better every year. And will continue on this year as well!!

I'm excited about show season as well. As I've been shopping on ebay, I wondered if I was bidding against any of my Back 9 buddies. ha. I've got so much to learn but I know with everyone's help, I'll get there. LeeAnn, kudos to you for the meeting Friday night and your handout. You've really got it together. See yall on Tuesday.

Another "KICK BUTT" day at PPP!!! Christy was 2nd in the Youth 1D on Dottie. She tripped and almost fell down on the 1st barrel and still placed 2nd. And Justin was right on her heels with a 3rd in the Youth 1D on Jill.

Marne placed 4th in the Adult 1D on Jill and was right out of the money on Dottie.

Justin ran Dottie in the open and, for the first time, beat Christy's time. Not by much, but he did!! He was right out of the money in the 1D - Go Justin!! Sara was 3rd in the Open 3D.

The most exciting run came when Marne won the Open on Jill. We love Jill and Marne of course!!!!!!!!

We are off to PPP again this Saturday for an NBHA show. Wish us luck.

LeeAnn, Christy, Carrie and myself went to Bear's yesterday for lessons. Yes even we need lessons. Everyone can learn something new. Remi has changed into a different horse. LeeAnn can actually sit his lope now without getting motion sickness (LOL). Christy rode him and decided that pleasure was pretty hard!!

Koda is on the fast track to AQHA. Who would of thought that Mr. Personality would make an awsome pleasure horse. I guess we should have know that since he is so lazy. That is until you pick up the rein!! Bear is planning on taking him to the Martin AQHA show in March. I can't wait. We are going to kick butt at the buckskin worlds!!!!!!

February 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAnnette

Koda is absolutely a different horse, too!! He will be kicking butt everywhere!! This is going to be an awesome show season!!! I am so excited about all of our new folks that will be showing! It is going to be lots of fun! By the way, if anyone has any show clothes from last year that they want to sell, let me know. There are lots of folks that are looking right now! Everyone have a great rest of the week!!!

It was a wet and nasty day at PPP, but we did come home with some checks.

Justin placed 3rd in the open 3D on Dottie. He had a really nice run. Neely Dalton came in and blew everyone's doors off by 5 tenth's!!
He was 5th on Jill, but of course they only paid 4 places.

Christy didn't have the greatest run on Dottie and placed 4th in the Youth 1D. Of course they only paid 3. Justin was 4th on Jill. Justins Open time on Dottie would have won the Youth. Oh well there is always next time. ANd Christy won the Youth 4D on Sugar Baby.

Sara had 2 nice runs on Lucy but fell in the hole.

February 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAnnette

CORRECTION!! Justin placed 3rd in the Open 2D. Way to go Justin.

Hey! I just wanted to let everyone know that I've got a BUNCH of show clothes for sale. I lost about 55 lbs. last year so they're all too big!! Most of them are saddleseat attire, but I've got a couple of western blouses, a belt, and a couple of western hats that I need to get rid of so I can buy some clothes that FIT. I've got pictures of just about everything on our website.

I hope everythings going good for ya'll! I guess we'll be seeing you at Trenton in a couple of weeks.
