Babbles August 24 - September 21
Well, my normal after show update took a little longer this morning... apparently my "old" computer's software does not support the editing feature of this blog site anymore, so I had to go surfing for an update, which then required 15 minutes to downlaod and then of course I had to re-start my computer... so finally, here we go!!!!
We were at Trenton last night for the Gibson County Saddle Club show. This show has gotten so HUGE!! The halter class had about 20, the pee wee classes are running about 17, the youth classes had about 15 or so and even the adult classes had about 9! So I feel like any ribbons won were definitely earned!!! It was a late show, too - the barrels not ending until after 2 a.m. I was certainly glad to see my bed last night....er, this morning!!!So here is how the ribbon count went.

Little Linda had a great night in barrels - she had two 19 second runs - great job!!!!! Rachel had a rough 2nd half of the night, taking a spill off of Brandy during speed, but was thankfully more scared than hurt. I am nit sure who it is more scary for when one of our kids takes a fall - the rider or all of us standing around watching!!! But Rachel is a trooper, so I am sure she will be back at it quickly!
Well that about rouds up the results. We have a weekend off since this one is the 5th Saturday, unless there is a barrel race somewhere that we don't know about yet. Ms Annette spent her weekend at a Ranch Horse Show, where Dandy is doing really well, so I am sure she will update us when she gets back. Everyone have a great week!!

By the way, the total count of wins from GCSC was 34...great job, everybody!!!!!
LeeAnn, Do you have Mallory's times on Barrells and Poles? They weren't winners but she did perfect patterns each time. Thanks.
I wanted to let everyone know Rachel is doing OK, not great but surviving. Linda and the girls came over yesterday and brought her presents. That was so sweet and very much appreciated. Everyone at the barn is so good to us. After everyone left Rachel broke into tears with the pain and had to lay down for the rest of the night. The pain is in her left side between her hip and ribs. I still cannot touch that area this morning. She took in a lot of dirt when she fell and is having trouble breathing when active so I told her to keep coughing and take it easy. Last night she started running a low fever but it was fortunately gone this morning. I kept checking on her throughout the night to make sure nothing was getting worse. She did go to school today but has someone taking her backpack for her. She cannot lift her left arm at all. I sent a note with her to school to have them call if the pain gets worse. I am really expecting a call as sitting in a chair all day is not going to be comfortable.
I have the times for our kids through youth speed and will get them posted later today. It is funny as much pain and breathing trouble Rachel was having yesterday morning the first thing she wanted to know was how everyone had done in their barrel runs and how Little B had done for Lyssie. Rachel and I are very proud of Little Linda for breaking the 20 second barrier.
Joy,
I hope that I am not overstepping myself here and I know that you do not know me. I think I would take your daughter to the doctor. My daughter has also fallen off a horse several times, one time breaking her nose, and I still didn't take her to the doctor. So I certainly do not rush off to the doctor with every fall off a horse. However, with the pain in her side, shortness of breath and a low grade fever, it may be something worth looking at. I am a nurse and use to work in the ER before I had my son. I hope she feels better, regardless. I know how scary these things can be for the moms, too. Best of Luck to the both of you and hopefully she will be "back in the saddle" real soon!
Thanks for the input Jenny. I have had several people here in my office who ride or have kids who ride tell me the same thing. I called her teacher about mid morning and she said Rachel had not complained about any pain yet but I was stupid enough to tell Rachel I had an important meeting this morning. If I know her she is in pain but just not telling anyone so I don't miss my meeting. She is at lunch now and I am planning on picking her up as soon as she is done. The office cannot seem to find children during lunch to check them out. I will give you an update when I know something and again thanks for caring.
Rhonda,
I don't have the times. But Annette will get the sheets from Suanna and figure up the points sometime in the next week or so, so I will try to remember to get them. It seems like she was about 36 in the barrels, but I don't remember exactly.
And hopefully Rachel is feeling a little better today. Let us know, Joy!
Rachel is feeling much better today. I took her to the doctor yesterday afternoon and he said everything was looking good. Rachel apparently had separated/dislocated her shoulder but it is in place now, had a concussion but her vision was not far off and is much better today, took in a lot of dust into her lungs which medication will help and the brusing on her face and abdomen is superficial. All in all a good report. It could have been a lot worse but thanks to the helmet she is still with us and wanting to get back to riding. She is already talking about Saturday's lesson but that maybe she won't jump and of course she is looking forward to horse camp on Monday. Thanks to everyone who helped after the accident, the visits and phone calls and all the advise yesterday.

Kinda quiet in here...
How's school going for everyone?
Sam, it IS quiet in here! School must have everyone in a daze!!!
We had a mini-camp on Labor Day. We had a great time - lots of old faces and a few new ones. I will put a link for the pictures on here in the next few days. The normal Henry crew will be headed there on Saturday. And that about winds up the excitement around the barn!
I sent an email to Dot this morning requesting the point totals for Henry County. I could not get the email addresses of either secretary. I will post any information I receive back. I believe all of our kids are in the running for year end awards this year.
I got a response back from Dot concerning the point totals. She said normally the point information is not given out. She said she did not know if no one has ever asked for that information before or if they keep it a secret for an end of the year surprise. She forwarded my request on to one of the secretaries so we will see what comes back.
What a busy day yesterday!!! Annette, Carrie and I took Lyssie, Linda, Kenzie and Rachel G to Martin for the Soy Bean Classic Youth Horse Show. There was a pretty good turnout for the show and all of our kids walked away with some great door prizes as well as some ribbons.

What a day! I am not sure if I can recover or not!! LOL! But it was a fun day full of lots of successes, so I would say that it was worth it! And I believe I am counting 40 placings for the Back 9 crew! Great job, guys!!!
One more Oakfield show later this month. Gibson County has moved the Sept show to Oct 11, so we will have 1 Henry and 2 Gibson Coutnies in October. The Saddle Club season is winding down!! It looks like a few will be doing the winter series at PPP, which will be starting up in the next month or so. No rest for the weary!! Everyone have a great week!!!
I believe both Rachel and Marley also placed in Open English Pleasure but I do not have those placements as I was busy tack changing Rachel. I know she came out with a ribbon but I do not know what it was.
oops - i guess I was changing bridles on Diego - let me know what ribbon is left for Rachel when you get all of the others! And Robin, what about Marley???
LeeAnn, Linda, Annette
Trying to get a head count for food for the wedding and was just wondering if and how many of you guys are coming?
Kenzie and I will be there!!! We will have to make a break for Oakfield afterwards, but we wouldn't miss the wedding for anything!!!! I wish we could stay for the horse show! But Kenz should place in the pony class year end results and Lyssie, Linda and Rachel G are all in the running for other classes, so I guess we have to go to the last show there. We will see you in a week!!!
Hey Cass, count 4 for Simons, we would not miss the wedding for anything. I wish we could somehow stay for horsey stuff, but if we miss Linda and Lyssie will lose the points standings. We will see you soon. Love ya Linda
Im so glad you guys are going to be able to make the wedding! I understand about the horse show, I wouldnt want the girls to miss their points that they have worked so hard for! We have been hearing rumors that the show is going to be really big but we will just have to see how it turns out! Unfortunately im not going to get to ride cause I took Rip to the vet for his 1 month check up and the xrays showed the break hadnt completely healed so he is out for another 10 days :( oh well i would rather be safe than sorry! See you guys next week!
OK I finally got Rachel's ribbons from last weekend sorted out. I am missing a 5th from speed and a 2nd from open flags but have two 4th place ribbons. I am guessing one is from Open English. I don't know where the other 4th place is suppose to go. If no one is missing one I will turn it in at the next show for the correct ones Rachel is missing.
Hi Cassie,
Sorry, we won't be there in person, but I will be thinking about you guys.
Congrats and good luck!!
PS - What happened to Rip??
