Babbles: June 10 - July 24

OK, Ms Linda, a fresh new page just for you!! Everyone, if you haven;t been on the blog in a  few days, be sure to read the last thread to see all of the comments about the Henry Show and 4Hers! (although we are still waiting for Ms Annette to post all of the official winnings from the regional 4H show)

The article in the Jackson Sun neighbors section about summer camp was great (Rhonda - glad Mallory and Wilson liked their pics!!)  We have already gotten some reponse from it today. Like Ms Linda said, free publicity is great!!

Summer camp is going well - it is just HOT!!! We have another great group. Lots of return campers in my and Ms Annette's group and lots of new faces in Ms Linda's group.

Ms Annette, Justin, Sara, Ms Tootie and Ms Christy will all be at the NBHA state show this weekend. Good luck to all of them!!

Well I guess it is my turn to post results. We went the the Western District 4-H show last weekend and the kids did great.

Jr. Barrels: Alexis & Duke - 6th, Allison & Mollie Sue - 10th

Jr. Poles: Alexis & Duke - 3rd, Sara & Lucy - 8th

Sr. Poles: Christy & Otoe - 4th

Jr. Ranch Riding: Justin & Jill - 1st, Alexis & Duke - 4th, Allison & Mollie Sue - 5th

Jr. Horsemanship: ALexis & Duke - 5th

Allison and Alexis ribboned in all their events and ALexis even won a trophy. The shock of the show was Justin winning 1st in Ranch Riding on Jill. She is our barrel futurity horse that just came home from Marne's. She is so nice, we just love her.

I feel like a proud mother!!!!!! I love seeing all the results. I'm so proud of all the kids.....this time I get to be proud of Molly Sue. Congrats to Allison for doing such a great job with her.

Jenny, MollySue sure has matured in the last few years, she is so sweet! The girls who ride her and of course Peyton, they love her and pet on her, and feed her treats, so she gets a nice share of the attention around here. As soon as we bring MollySue back to her little pasture, May hollers for her and they come to the fence and smell one another.

June 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLinda

Jenny, but Linda failed to mention that Molly is in that "little pasture" because she went through another Diva phase and wouldn't let anyone catch her in any of the big pastures!!! The more things change.....

But overall she really is such a wonderful horse. The summer camp kids always fight over her! And Annette and I were talking about how she is a horse that seems to understand the abilities of her rider. I think I could put Kenzie on her and she would walk off like an angel. I remember when Emma was all of 8 or 9 years old and we took those pictures of her and Jacob on Molly at Christmas. The wind blew and the red blanket flew on top of Molly's head. And even though I often accuse her of being a little spazzy, she was a perfect angel and didn't even move a hoof because Jacob and Emma were on her back. What a good girl!!! And she wasn't much over a baby herself back then!

Excuse me LeeAnn, but always accentuate the positive!!!! Besides, I had no reason to catch MollySue hehehe!

I sent in a picture of Kenzie, Marley and Rachel at the Henry Show to the web master of that site and she posted it on the home page, so check it out!!!

Don't they all look great?!?! It's hard to get many pictures at the night shows, so I will try my best to get some at the beginning of the rest of the shows while there is some light!

Everyone have a great week!!!

I sure do remember the Christmas pictures. You know how much I love that horse. I have as many pictures of her in my house as I do my own children. I'm glad she's behavin'....for the time being. Good luck at the shows this weekend.

Jenny,
A few of the campers who ride Molly Sue a lot, Christy and I all had a nice discussion today at horse camp about all of the things that she has spooked at over the last few years of camp. We had a water bottle, the end of a jump rope, a canopy, toilet paper and a wal-mart sack rattled off within about 3 seconds! We had several good laughs remembering the adter effects of her heart attacks!!! Molly is always good for some drama!!

Hey,can anyone tell me what time Oakfield starts Saturday night? Miss Mallory wants to be there even though she's not riding and I can't remember if it's 6 or 7 pm. She didn't get enough horses at camp this week.

June 20, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRhonda

Sorry we didn't see that in time to answer, Rhonda!! But you guys made it anyway!! We had several placings last night at the Oakfield show.

Youth Halter Showmanship - Rachel Gokel 1st
Pony Class - Mackenzie Johnson 4th
Children's Poles - Sara Saddler 1st
Open Poles - Sara 4th
Open hunt Seat - Ariel Zigler 3rd, Linda Trautwein 4th
Youth Western Pleasure - Sara 3rd, Lyssie Simons 4th, Rachel 5th
Youth Walk Trot - Sara 1st, Lyssie 4th
Youth Flags - Ariel 3rd
Open Western Pleasure - Sara 4th, Rachel 5th

I always feel like placings at Oakfield in the rail classes are extra special because there are always so many in them!! That pony class usually has at least 10 - 12, the walk-trot class always has well over 15 - sometimes 20! And even the hunt seat class has several, including adults!! So kudos to everyone for placing in at least one class!!!

And in clase you noticed the new name, Ariel Zigler (hope I spelled that right!)is now taking English lessons at the barn from Ms Carrie, so we are glad to have her on board! We also gained Mallory Chute's brother Wilson as a lesson student after summer camp and Ashlynn Page, whose family always shows at Oakfield, is also starting lessons with us as well! So welcome to our new lesson students!

Ms Annette and Justin will be at the World Ranch Horse Association Show Monday. And then several of our barn family will be at the state 4H show Wednesday and Thursday, including Ms Christy, Justin, Alexis Montgomery, Sara Saddler and Alison Garret. Good luck to all of them as they represent the Western Region of Tennessee. And then the Gibson County Show will be this Saturday. So a busy week in store for us again!!! Everyone have a great week!!!

June 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLeeAnn

Oops - I am sure that Ariel also placed in Arabian Halter, but I was helping Mackenzie get ready for her next class, so I didn't get that down! So add one more ribbon to the total to give us 15!!

Yall are sellin Sassy???? =[
Why?!?
Haha

June 24, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSamantha

Yes Sam! She has been wonderful for us, we have used her in summer camp for the past three or four years, she has 30 days professional riding and is currently legged up by our advanced lesson students, those who are small enough to ride her. She needs a more full time job and a chance at a one owner family with someone who will develop her to her full potential. She is a great little pony and loved a lot around here.

June 25, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLinda

Sam,
Are you confusing Sassy with Dixie? I don't think that you have ever seen Sassy. Dixie is the one that you that time at Trenton. Sassy is about her size, but has a lot more white on her and has an absolutely gorgeous mane!! she is such a cute little pony! But because she is small and still needs a little direction, we don't have a lot of students that can ride her. So she is being wasted out in the pasture much more than she should be! We want to find her a home where she can be used and loved. She will make someone a really nice all around pony! I guess we will see you this weekend at Trenton!

June 25, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLeeAnn

Sassy is leaving!!!!!! I know the Sena's will be so sad. She sure did help us out all those years in summer camp. I can still see little Maddie riding Sassy around the arena.....Maddie couldn't have been more than 5 at the time. I can also still see Shelly riding her in the big round pen. We will certainly miss her, but you're right....she should go to a family that will love and use her. Hard to believe how quickly the students are growing up and improving. Great for the students, but a reality that some horses have done the job they were needed for and it is time for them to move on to another home. I hope her new family will love her as much as we did. Keep us posted.

This summer has just flown by so far!! It seems like I just got out of school last week! Everyone stay cool and have a great week!

Don't even ask what "buting" is?!?!? I think I meant to say "having". I am still sleepy from last night I guess ;o)
